Revision activities for history teachers

It’s that time of year again when the nights get lighter, the Premier League season gets to ‘squeaky bum time’ and students start revising for their exams. Here are 15 revision activities for history teachers as the exam season approaches.

1. Top Trumps


Top Trumps are a great activity for revision. The one above is one we created in the history department on the reign of Henry VIII. It makes students think about key individuals, consider their significance and more importantly helps them recall key information about key personalities from the course. Top trumps are fun, engaging and makes students think. Perfect!

2. Only Connect


The popular BBC4 quiz show Only Connect is a true classic. It’s great in the classroom as well for getting students to think about key words and make links between different concepts and ideas. I love the activity because like all good revision strategies it makes…
